Paper Reclamation in Jadeite with Cloche
These pieces are made from multiple layers of archival paper that are shaped and then joined using archival glue. The trees are encased in a glass cloche and rest on a ceramic base. Both of these sculptures have been included in group shows in San Francisco and Oakland.

Reclamation in Jadeite Sculpture
Made from layers of cut paper and archival glue, my "Reclamation" sculptures and landscapes began as an attempt to return to nature when I was surrunded by the beauty of New York City. Although Central Park offered some refuge, it was never possible to really escape the sights and sounds of the city. With limited space to create my own life sized forest to escape into (apartment living in NYC can be tight to say the least), I sought materials that I could afford and easily store. It quickly dawned on me in my search that it would be fiting to use paper to create my trees and foliage. If I couldn't physically escape into them I would escape into the creation of these pieces In this way the idea of reclamations came about. Each piece is an attempt to not only create something but to return the material back into a semblance of its former self. It is also my hope that my reclamation pieces remind people of the fragility of our environment and the part they play in protecting it.
