Life on the Edge Sculpture
Many people struggle to manage all the different aspects of their modern day lives while neglecting the actual physical world around them. Overwhelmed with information, choices and images, some seek to achieve balance by attempting to control their environment. These attempts at control have brought about numerous ways to create and define our own individual universes.
My work is an exploration of forms that illustrate the balance people seek and the environments they create to exist amongst the chaos of everyday life. Our lives are a direct reflection of our attempts at seeking balance and the person that we become is often a reflection of the environment we find ourselves in.
I utilize my knowledge of several traditional techniques to create mixed media pieces and sculptures. In addition to using found objects, I also solder structures, cast objects, and make three dimensional pieces from paper and photographs.
